    Dear Chin Woo Auckland Members,

    Your earnest support to our 1st fund-raising project is required to support the Coach and the athletes travelling to the 100th Anniversary of Chin Woo celebration and Tournament in Shanghai this November.

    For a $10 donation will exchange for an invitation to attend a Wu-Shu afternoon.

    Get the tickets from members of the Auckland Committee and the Coach. All proceeds will go towards the airfare for the Coach and athletes going to Shanghai in November.

    Work on the Chin Woo New Zealand 2010 Magazine has started and we are now calling for articles on all topics relevant and of interest to the Chinese martial arts community.

    The Chin Woo Athletic Association of New Zealand Inc Magazine has a wide and varied readership.

    The Editorial Board favours articles written in a freely readable style rather than formal scholarly work or highly technical papers. Before submitting articles, intending contributors should contact:

    Chinwoo Chinese Martial Arts Park in Tianjin

    A planned investment of 2.2 billion RMB has begun construction. The “Chinwoo Chinese Martial Arts Park” is a development project in the home town of the famous martial artist Huo Yuan-Jia (Xiao Nan He Village, Jing Wu Town, Xi Qing District, Tianjin).

    This “Theme Park” project has been regarded as one of the key developments in the cultural tourism industry for Tianjin in 2010. This impressive project covers 3,570 acres with a building area of 600,000 square meters. The intention of this project is to transform the home of Huo Yuan-Jia into the hub of cultural exchange, tourism, patriotic education and a filmmaking base. Creating a centre point for the world Chinwoo movement for people from all around the world to visit and enjoy.

    The Deputy Secretary of Tourism Department for Tianjin Xiqing District, Defeng, said the town this year has invested 300 million yuan to develope an area of 465 acres for the Huo Yuan-Jia Memorial, which includes 4 individual structures, the Huo Yuan-Jia Mausoleum, the Huo Yuan-Jia Memorial Hall, a Martial Arts Training Centre and a Chinwoo Centre with a total construction area of about 46,000 square meters.

    The existing Huo Yuan-Jia Memorial will be expanded from the original site in an area of about 130 acres, with a structure area of 2,512 square meters. The new Huo Yuan-Jia Memorial Hall will cover an area of about 170 acres, with structure area of 5,120 square meters. Once completed this will house the exhibits of the legend and legacy of Master Huo Yuan-Jia and the history and development of the Chinwoo Athletic Association since its inception in 1910. The Huo Yuan-Jia Memorial and Mausoleum projects, is expected to be completed by September 2010.
    At present, the design for the Huo Yuan-Jia Martial Arts Training Centre and the Chinwoo Centre are near the final stages, with the commencement of construction expected during 2010. The Huo Yua- Jia Martial Arts Training Centre covering about 20 acres, with a building area of 6,886 square meters, once completed can be used to host all kinds of national and world-class martial arts tournaments. The Chinwoo Centre, covering about 145 acres and a building area of 27,200 square meters, will mainly be used to house the Headquarter for World Chinwoo and can also provide accommodation, catering for conference and seminars, as well as for tourism and other services.

    Huo Yuan-Jia was born in 1868 to a martial arts family which specialise in the “Mi-Zong” style of Chinese boxing and is the founder of The Chin Woo Athletic Association. The name of his hometown in Tianjin, Nan He Town in Xi Qing District, has been officially changed to Jing Wu (Chinwoo) Town in 2009. Currently the Chin Woo Athletic Association has as many as several hundred thousand members within 53 chapters around the world.

    計劃總投資22億元的「精武門•中華武林園」項目日前在著名武術家霍元甲的故鄉天津西青區精武鎮小南河村開工建設。
    該項目已被列入天津市2010年文化旅遊產業重點項目之一,將建設規劃佔地3570畝,建築面積60萬平方米,準備在霍元甲的故鄉打造一個集國內外武術文化交流、旅遊、愛國主義教育基地、影視基地於一體的世界精武文化中心。
    天津市西青區旅遊局副局長種德鳳表示,今年精武鎮投資3億元先期啟動一期佔地465畝的霍元甲紀念區建設,主要包括霍元甲陵園、紀念館、武術館、精武會館4個單體建築,總建築面積約4.6萬平方米。
    其中,霍元甲陵園將在原址上擴建,佔地約130畝,建築面積2512平方米。霍元甲紀念館佔地約170畝,建築面積5120平方米,建成以後將全面系統地展示霍元甲的傳奇一生和精武會創建及發展歷程。霍元甲陵園和紀念館項目,預計今年9月上旬完工。
    目前,霍元甲武術館和精武會館正在加緊設計之中,年內全面啟動建設。霍元甲武術館佔地約20畝,建築面積6886平方米,可以用於承辦全國及世界級別的各類武術賽事。精武會館佔地約145畝,建築面積27200平方米,主要是建設世界精武總壇,同時具備為遊客提供餐飲、住宿、會議研討等多種服務功能。
    霍元甲1868年生於一個迷蹤拳的世家,為精武體育會創始人。他的家鄉天津小南河村屬西青區南河鎮,2009年更名為精武鎮。目前精武體育會在世界各國擁有分會53個,會員多達幾十萬人。

    Chin Woo Wellington to Perform at South East Asian Night Market

    Chin Woo Wellington region will be showcasing some of its members and schools at the first South East Asian Night Market to be held on Saturday 20th March 2010 at Frank Kitts Park.

    A vast array of Chin Woo members will be performing on the night.

    Be sure to come down and check out the fabulous variety of food, culture and of course kung fu that will be on display.

    The night market opens at 4pm and runs until 10pm. The Chin Woo performance starts at 5pm.

    The First in Any Western Country

    Date: April 10th, 2010 (Saturday)
    Time: Commence at 2:30pm
    Venue: Onepoto Primary Scholl, Fraser Avenue, Northcote, Auckland

    Regulations: The “Star” system is an assessment system that has been implemented by the World Chin Woo Athletic Federation to evaluate the overall understanding (technical & cultural) of it’s participants for the purpose of popularization and promotion of Wushu worldwide.

    A) Levels of “STAR” system:
    1) Pre-requisite to “Star”
    2) One Star
    3) Two Stars
    4) Three Stars

    B) Requirements for applicants:
    1) Pre-requisite grade – training under one year
    2) One Star grade – training for one year or more and completed the Tan Tui, Gong Li Quan & Qun Yang Gun forms
    3) Two Stars grade – must have obtained One Star and have completed the Jie Quan, Ba Gua Dao & Jie Tan Tui forms
    4) Three Stars grade – must have obtained Two Stars and have completed Da Zhan Quan, Wu Hu Qiang, Dan Dao Chuan Qiang & Tao Quan forms

    C) Cost:
    1) Pre-requisite grade $20
    2) One Star grade $40
    3) Two Stars grade $60
    4) Three Stars grade $80

    All assessments comprise of both technical & cultural component. Certificates will be issued to all participants at the award ceremony, time and venue to be announced on a later date.

    All applications & payment must be received by Chin Woo New Zealand no later than April 2nd, 2010.
