On Sunday the 12th of October, Chin Woo held its 5th Annual Chin Woo NZ Wushu Competition at Farm Cove Intermediate Gym.
The competition drew athletes from various schools across the Auckland Region, competing in a variety of contemporary and traditional Wushu taolu. With the morning dedicated to traditional Chin Woo taolu, many Chin Woo members successfully achieved their first grading. In the afternoon, the events ranged from the agility and athleticism of Changquan to the deep-rooted purposefulness of Taijiquan.
With special guests, Sifu Kenneth Liu, Life Patron of the Chin Woo Athletic Association of New Zealand, Ms Leung Wing Wah representing the Beijing Wushu Institute, Mr. Roger Fan of Shenzhen Wushu Association, Ms Chan Yun King of Hong Kong Sum Yee Taichi Bagua Martial Arts Association, and Ms Man Kim Ying, Ms Cheng Wai Hing & Mr. Kevin Steel of Hong Kong Fu Style Baguazhang, presented the medals to the various divisional winners.
This is the second year running that the Chin Woo New Zealand Tournament have extended the event to include the IWUF and other traditional Chinese Martial Arts Forms and this was supported by the showing of the many local instructors and their students who were present at the tournament. The competition was well received by all.
