  • Wushu Have-A-Go Day (by Lucy Ong)

    Wushu Have-A-Go Day

    Wushu, also known as Chinese Kungfu, is a martial art focusing on speed, power and athleticism. Please join us for a demonstration of the sport, followed by a free lesson from Master George Yuan-Cheng Guo on some of the basic movements of Wushu.

  • The Second World Cup of Tai Chi Chuan- (forms, weapons, push-hand)

    Chin Woo NZ members have been invited to attend the Second World Cup of Tai Chi Chuan.

    This big event will be held in Taipei, Taiwan on 18th – 19th of October 2008 along with the 3rd International Judge Seminar (14th – 15th – 16th of October). The 1st World Cup was held in November 2006 and was a great success with 153 teams coming from 25 countries and up to 10,000 participants. The organizers are confident that the 2nd World cup this year will be a more successful one.

    Chin Woo NZ members have been invited to attend the Extra Tai Chi Work-shop (12th – 13th of October), which is specially designed for overseas’ attendants of the International Judge Seminar. The Work-shop will be conducted by various very famous Tai Chi Masters to focus on participants preferring schools.

  • Chin Woo NZ Interview on TV One News

    On 7th April 2008, Chin Woo Regional Director David Chan and Chin Woo NZ Life Members Sifu Melissa Chan and Sifu Peter Sue were interviewed by Television New Zealand’s One News. Also in attendance was Chin Woo NZ member Teresa Chan.

    The purpose of the interview was to get industry reaction to the China/ NZ Free Trade Agreement which contains specific provisions allowing up to 150 Chinese martial arts instructors to enter NZ on a 3 year work visa.

  • Chin Woo Raffle One Winners

    The first Chin Woo NZ raffle has been heralded as a success with all 1,000 tickets having been sold and just under $3,500 net raised to assist with meeting the costs associated with staging the 10th Anniversary Celebrations to be held in Wellington during the first weekend of October 2008.

    A massive thank you to all Chin Woo members and friends who helped to make this a huge success by either organising the raffle with me or selling tickets or both! You really showed Chin Woo as one family and many of you, and you know who you are, gave unselfishly of your time and energy to help us with our fundraising efforts.

    Don’t worry if you missed out on a prize, Chin Woo NZ is running a second raffle soon with some great prizes up for grabs including a laptop computer. Watch this space for more detail over the coming weeks.

    Well, here are the results of the first Chin Woo NZ Raffle.

  • Attention- Stolen Raffle Book

    With respect to the current 10AC Raffle fundraising campaign, it has come to our attention that one of the Ticket Books has been stolen.

    The stolen tickets are those numbered 591 through to 600 inclusive.

    As there is no way of knowing where these tickets have ended up the Raffle Organizer has decided to exclude tickets 591 to 600 (inclusive) from the draw to take place on 4th April 2008.

    If you have, or know of some who has one of these ticket numbers please contact the Raffle Organizer Mr David Chan on 027 678 0528.

  • Chin Woo Wellington Demonstration Squad

    To spread awareness of Chin Woo (and the 10AC Festival) as well as promote individual instructors/ schools, Chin Woo Wellington Region are considering formalizing a demonstration squad.

    Subject to sufficient participation the demonstration squad would be made available for public events, shows, festivals on a voluntary basis (ie non-paid). The squad would need to meet bi-monthly to work on routines/ train together etc. Squad members would be performing their own style of martial art in addition to any Chin Woo Forms that may also be included.
